The information and tools on GraphCalculate are provided for general educational purposes. While we work hard to make our calculators numerically accurate, all results should be independently verified before use in any high-stakes context (academic publication, engineering specification, financial analysis, medical decision, etc.).
Accuracy of numerical results
Mathematical computations on the Site are performed using JavaScript double-precision floating point. This is more than adequate for typical educational use but has well-known limitations:
- Numerical roots are reported to ~10 decimal places of accuracy.
- Very large or very small numbers may suffer from precision loss.
- Edge cases such as removable singularities, asymptotes and discontinuities should always be inspected visually as well as evaluated.
